The ideal bath
While adults may enjoy relaxing in a nice hot bath after a hard day, the skin much less so! Especially children's skin, which is extremely dry.
Indeed, a hot bath will reduce the layer of fat so essential to the skin's barrier function. Does this mean you should completely deprive your child of baths? Not necessarily. Especially if they love playing in the tub!
You could offer him two or three baths a week. Just one precaution: only let him enjoy his adventures for about ten minutes in water between 35 and 37°C. For added peace of mind, or even for better results, you can add a specific baby-child bath oil.
Two or three capfuls are enough, and the benefits are numerous: in addition to counteracting the drying effects of washing, the oil helps to replenish lipids throughout the body and instantly soothes any irritation. It's also very practical: there's no need to rinse it off!
The ideal shower
The rest of the time, pamper it with 5-minute showers at a maximum of 35°C. To avoid irritating its skin, choose a soap-free bar or a superfatted gel with a skin-friendly pH. Even better!
To ensure maximum comfort, you can also take advantage of the benefits of a specific baby and child cleansing cream for atopic-prone skin. Perfect for both body and face, it will leave them perfectly clean with maximum protection. From birth, it will soothe your baby, leaving their skin soft and silky and reducing any tightness.
An added bonus: it doesn't sting the eyes! When drying it, it's best to avoid rubbing or smearing: a patting effect with the towel is ideal and so much gentler.
Another precaution: remember to trim your nails regularly and remove your jewelry before washing it so as not to scratch it inadvertently.
